My experience buying a new home with Hillstone was positive, and the entire purchase process was completed as promised, including selection of many available options and upgrades. During the 5 month building phase I visited the site often and enjoyed seeing my new home constructed. All the staff at Hillstone were always friendly and available to answer my questions along the way.

Having now been in my new Hillstone home for the past 18 months, I am very pleased with the quality of materials and construction. All of the components of my house, including HVAC, plumbing and fixtures, flooring, cabinetry, roofing and interior/exterior walls have had no defects. Hillstone also provides an extensive warranty which is very reassuring.

Hillstone Homes is highly recommended to anyone considering the purchase of a new home!

Have had some of the worst experience with the air conditioning and flow was suppose to have a return duct in down stairs bedroom never added now 2. Years. 8 months into this house air conditioner downstairs broke have to replace condenser had other problems with this house would. Like a rebate if possible won't happen so many things went wrong we had to fix ourselves and have builders fix after the fact now the unit went out slap stick work I thought I'd add to this review. We moved in in November of 2018 and we just had to have a new air conditioner. Put in all the duck work done in our upstairs. Re done we had to pay thousands of dollars to fix. Chase Roberts mistakes for something that 6 and a 1/2 years old.We shouldn't have to put that kind of money into a home That's a new build. We also paid $6500 to have the insulation redone. We have to have the old insulation removed. And what and new insulation put in?It looked like somebody took paper and shredded it in our attic. I complained the whole first year about the upstairs. Air conditioner not working and we got some of the stupidest excuses ever like you? Only put 1 person in the room. Make sure your bedroom doors are open after we have the whole duck work done and new air conditioner. Put in somehow we can have the cold in the bedrooms, so we don't have to have the door bedroom doors open duh it was done correctly the second time. But not by the builders that made this house or chase Roberts.Whoever they hired the worst people ever to do our stuff

I decided to build my House with Winton, and I wanted my house just like the model home. The differences I chose were the colors, and some upgrades. However, through the construction of the house I encountered mistakes.

The wall Niche was not installed (later changed, and installed)

The shower was being constructed to a different layout than what I have asked (later changed, and installed)

The garage window that the sale’s man told me that came with the house as we both saw it on the model home, was not installed in my house until later. (I had to show picture evidence of 4-5 model homes of the same layout as mine, for him to admit that there was a mistake)

Sliding back windows were crooked and dirt was coming inside of the house (had to call the warranty after closing so they could fix it)

Roof niche in model home was installed wrong; they had to tear down the sheet rock to properly fix it.

Wrong kitchen lights were installed because they were out of stock of the ones I chose in the color selection (took them around a month to replace)

The lights I chosen in the color selection were not installed (the foreman at closing told me that the house was being turned in as it, without the lights that i had chosen because they had already installed some led lights.)

The garage panels of the door were damaged, and they told me to place it on the 30 day warranty. Once I did, they said they had replaced them and would not cover them. (No one came to replace them)

My bathtub was installed with a hole and was not replaced. Just fixed a patch.

They installed the wrong sink, after i paid the upgrade for a farmers sink. (later it was replaced before closing), but the sink that they gave me was scratched, and they did not want to cover it under the warranty.

The floor tiles came with welding stains, and they had to be replaced under the warranty

I do not recommend Edwards homes. At first, they make it seem like everything is good quality no issues. WRONG! I have multiple issues like the stucco( many cracks), light issues, shower head leak, garage leak, and low quality rock wall. I bought a new house to avoid any issues however it’s a massive headache. The warrant department takes months(five months) to fix an issue, although it’s been reported in the 30 day list. Even then they fix it, the issue continues such as the shower leaks and stucco. I recommend another house builder. Take ur time to find ur right house and don’t rush like I did. Talk to ur neighbors ask them if they experience any issues with the builder. Months later talking to my neighbors they experience the same issue. I hope everything gets resolved soon.. still haven’t had my house warming party. DO NOT COMPLETE THE REVIEW WHEN ASKED BY GINA! I’ll suggest to wait to give ur honest opinion.

Not even a year after buying our home from Hakes Brothers, and we are already dealing with multiple issues. Just a couple of months after moving in, the grout in the main shower and bathroom sinks started coming loose. Additionally, we are now having to replace kitchen and bathroom faucets because of leaks.

The walls are extremely thin, you can hear everything throughout the house like you’re living in an apartment. When it rains, the backyard floods because of the poor grading and how the rocks were leveled around the property. On top of that, all the doors in the house were installed loose, so we had to fix them ourselves.

For the price of these homes, the quality is very disappointing. You can clearly see Hakes Brothers uses cheaper materials compared to other builders in El Paso. Very expensive homes, but cheaply made. Also disappointing that a 4-bedroom, 2-bath home doesn’t even include a half bathroom, when many other builders offer at least a 2.5 bath layout for homes this size.

Would not recommend based on our experience.

Was sold a new construction home with NO ROOF

Our roof had to be replaced for thousands of dollars. We found out that Winton had never actually put dowm appropriate roofing material. So basically we paid for a house w no roof. Winton stated it was out of warranty. Insurance states no coverage due to poor workmanship.

How can something that was never placed in the first place be under warranty?

If you want to pay thousands out of your own pocket. Choose Winton.

I had a truly wonderful experience working with Nicolle Gardinera and her team. From start to finish, she demonstrated professionalism, responsiveness, and a genuine commitment to making the process smooth and stress-free.

Her knowledge of the market, attention to detail, and clear communication made a huge difference. I always felt informed and confident in every step of the process her own.

I’m incredibly grateful for the positive experience and would highly recommend Nicolle Gardinera to anyone looking for a reliable and supportive realtor. Working with her was an absolute pleasure.

Absolutely garbage builder. They don't even deserve one star but their wasn't a no star choice on this review.
This builder uses the very minimum building codes as their standard, at least on my house, don't expect yours to be different.
We paid a premium price (over half a million dollars) thinking we were getting a premium home.
It was a disaster and very disappointing experience from day one. Every day since we moved in, we regret using this builder.

    ● Don't expect anything to be nailed properly.
    ● Don't expect your stucco to look good because they put the stucco so thin, the wire and paper wrinkles can be seen. Our stucco is also cracked all over the place and this is after lots of complaints and repair warranty work. The patch and repair/warranty work makes it worse.
    ● Don't expect your drywall to look nice. They put too much electrical outlets and lights on each circuit in my house, so my drywall had to be destroyed and patched so much with bad quality patch work. The repairs get worse and worse everytime they come to fix the bad repair.
    ● Don't expect straight walls. The bottom of my walls are wavy, looks like a snake winding through. The top of my walls and doorways are uneven.
    ● Don't expect proper warranty. A sill seal is required by code between the bottom of the 2x4 walls and he concrete slab for a moisture barrier, pest control and air infiltration, but Hakes never put one for my house. Warranty supposedly doesn't cover that.
    ● Don't expect your interior walls to be the standard 16 inches on center. Oh no, Hakes uses 24 inches on center for non-load bearing walls on interiors. Can't find a stud when hanging stuff.
    ● Roof sheathing is very thin 7/16.
    ● Don't expect your exterior lights to be fastened properly to your house, all of mine wobble from them probably only being fastened to only the foam sheathing instead of fastened to the wood.

Too many thing to list that makes this builder the worst builder by far that we've had to deal with, and this is the third house we've had built, all different builders. There's a reason why Hakes only has a one year warranty. I have a better warranty on the tires on my vehicle and tires are designed to wear out.

They did a great job in our yard, getting it ready for summer,

As others have mentioned the houses look nice at first but we have had a number of issues.
    - Studs are not consistently spaced (e.g. 16" on center) making it frustrating to hang anything and makes us wonder where else they cut corners.
    - The stucco started cracking on window ledges and along the foundation less than 2 years in.
    - Our cheap garage door (which we had to pay separately to get an opener for) broke less than 4 years in.
    - Our HVAC was placed on an improperly fitted duct (as assessed by 2 independent HVAC repair technicians), resulting in leaks when it rains and $3k+ out of pocket to fix, also less than 4 years in. This was a problem with the original build, not something we could have fixed ourselves or prevented ourselves.

This builder does not stand by their work. The warranty department recently switched from answering the phone to only taking claims online, maybe to streamline the rejection process and avoid talking to their customers.

Avoid this builder if you have other options!

Cheap paint, cheap labor who don’t care about code, cheap materials, stone walls falling apart after a year. They put peel n stick flooring in a brand new home. This company literally just slaps up homes as quick as possible and charges premium. This company literally just cares about profit and not the actual buyers.

Winton Homes exceeded my expectations in building my home. I purchased a custom home and Angel Herrera Jr. was a great foreman to work with. He always kept me informed on how construction was going as well as always making sure that timelines were being met . He was always available to answer any questions and made time to walk the home with me during the construction process. I highly recommend Winton Homes! The time and care that was taken from design to finish selections and final construction was an incredible experience.

We purchased one of Legendary's spec homes and it was our first new construction. We were drawn to the character of our home. Crown molding, tongue and groove flooring, solid doors, high ceilings (including the basement)... in short, it felt like a custom home. The floor plan (Southern Living inspired) was well thought out and gave everyone more than enough space to do what they needed or wanted. While those things were important to us, we bought the house because of the quality of construction. It was extremely well done and no corners were cut. If we are to build a new house down the road, Legendary Homes is the first call.

Hello, I got a quote from Abner at AMV Systems LLC Plumbing, General Contracting & Builders, he has skilled workers. They competed the job on time, above expectation and did an excellent job! We had a vent installed to exhaust the over the range microwave outside through the roof. He also did attic insultation covering 912 sqft and covered main HVAC duct in insulation. We are planning to request them for another bid of additional work when we have funding. Abner was great to work with he kept me informed and got it done quickly and on budget as quoted.

This place is an absolute disaster. The super has no control over the schedule, heating issues… I mean the address for the house I was working on was even spray painted incorrectly. Speaks volumes about the lack of competence on this joke of a job site. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere.

This is my second Lokal home the I've bought. I wanted something bigger so I bought a townhouse at Parkside at Victory Ridge. I would not have bought a second Lokal home if I wasn't aware of the high build quality. The Lokal staff is top-notch. My sales person Virginia was so patient, helpful and answered all of my questions. The construction manager Leila has amazing attention to detail. I did numerous walkthroughs with her before closing. I've been living in my house now for three months and have zero issues. I think the price was reasonable and the location perfect just 10 mins to I-25 and 15 mins to the Air force academy. I have a beautiful view of Pikes Peak and I am right across from a park were I can walk my dogs. I would recommend Lokal to all my friends. I plan on living in my house for many years to come. I feel that when you buy from Lokal you are not just buying a house but your buying a home.

Trust, Excellence, Communication. Three words I have rarely used in all my experience with contractors; without reservation I will 100% call Abner for my next project (driveway); and recommend him and his guys to anyone.

Work done - Grading, Gravel Pad and 12 footings for large 24x16 shed.

From the first time we met to discuss the job I felt a sense of confidence and calm knowing I could trust him with my project and money. Fair pricing, very high quality work - Abner and his team are meticulous in getting the details right. He was super friendly with my kids who wanted to watch the work. He communicates really well and showed extra care in helping to ensure we met all the codes and got approved and we did first time!

If you want a friendly, honest all around good crew - definitely call AMV!!!

We've been in our new BA home for 3 months now and love it! The quality of the construction is high. (We have built 3 homes before with other Twin Cities builders and are pretty picky buyers.) Our sales agent Lisa was a gem to work with....Always very responsive, friendly and professional. Ricky and John have also been very professional and hard-working, and available to help when we ran into minor issues and questions post-move in.

My husband and I were very intentional and specific about the upgrades we wanted and were willing to pay for (quieter fans, solid interior doors, real wood flooring, more and bigger windows, etc.) My advice to others considering BA is to know what upgrades are important to you (beyond the "included" items listed on the spec sheet for the model you choose) and work closely with your sales agent and designer to get what you want and need. They will help you build your ideal home!

Adriana Cortes is an amazing sales representative. She put me at ease during our tour, and didn’t overwhelm me with information. She took the time to get to know me and my needs first, asking lots of questions instead of a sales pitch. Then as we walked through the model home, she showed me many thoughtful standard features in the home and gave special attention to those that appealed to my needs.I appreciated the thoughtfulness behind the layouts and features. She explained everything clearly, especially the process of the building flow in the Campos del Sol development and how lots are released. I really like that this company is organized and already has some of their lots ready for presale to begin building in late fall 2025. None of the other builders I saw that day had such advance planning, but if they did, they weren’t transparent about it the way that Desert View was. Even their website has more evidence of planning than a lot of the other builders’ websites. After the tour, Adriana made herself available by text and phone call for my follow up questions. In the end, I decided to go with a resale due to my timeline, but if I had the time for building, I would really like to go with this company because of their attention to planning, organization, and customer service. The door isn’t completely closed, and if I do decide on a new construction in the future, I will reach out to this company for sure!

We absolutely love our Legendary Home!
Our experience was both fun and positive, and the quality of the home truly exceeded our expectations. From start to finish, the customer service provided by Matt and Josh has been outstanding. They were attentive, professional, and made the entire process smooth and enjoyable. We couldn’t be happier with our new home!
